Case Study: Bespoke Website Build for Plan-Ed

Building a UK Home Education website planner

How I conceptualised, developed, and deployed a complex, mobile-first scheduling and analytical tracking engine designed specifically for Neurodivergent children of Home Educators in the UK.

01 / The Challenge

UK Home educators face an overwhelming administrative burden. Balancing structured daily schedules, resource allocation, and maintaining records of progress for local authority reviews often leaves parents buried under manual spreadsheets or notebooks.

The core requirement was clear: build a secure, lightweight centralised software platform that allows families to seamlessly organise their academic year while automatically compiling clean report loops with zero extra effort.

02 / The Solution

Plan-Ed was developed from the ground up for UK Home Educating parents - prioritising a simple to use UI, absolute speed of navigation and as I always insist on create, a mobile-first viewport. By understanding the use case for the system (stressed parents, mostly on mobile devices, neurodivergent children), allowed the easy iterative approach of building and testing with real Home Educating families to shape the system. Also, by dropping heavy modern dependencies, we ensured instant page load metrics across low-bandwidth data connections.

  • Interactive Scheduling Loop: A responsive, drag-free schedule grid optimised for smartphones.
  • Automated Reporting Core: One-click compilation filters that format portfolio outputs directly for regulatory audits.
  • Relational Database Performance: Fully normalized structures allowing instant data scaling without processing delays.

03 / The Outcome

100% Operational

The web application went from a conceptual framework to a live, production-ready SaaS module.

Plan-Ed serves as the ultimate proof-of-concept for what Bluecap Studios builds: ultra-clean, super fast, highly specific application architecture that tackles complex real-world logic patterns and puts the customer at the forefront of the process, not a developers vanity.
